Budgie cage, diet and daily care basics

Choose flight space first

Budgies need a wide cage or aviary that supports movement, perching choice and enrichment. A neat-looking small cage is not a welfare-first setup.

Warning: Avoid round cages and cramped starter cages that leave no room for natural movement.

Move away from seed-only feeding

A balanced diet usually combines a suitable complete diet with measured seed, safe greens and careful millet use. Fresh food should be removed before it spoils.

Helpful tip: Use tiny foraging portions so food supports activity instead of becoming a bowl-only routine.

Protect their breathing

Birds are sensitive to fumes, aerosols, smoke and poor ventilation. Cage position and household habits matter as much as accessories.
